The DiST® family of testers is widely used to measure EC / TDS in pools, spas and hot tubs.

The tester HI983024 is a portable tester that provides fast and accurate Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) readings. The housing has been designed to increase its robustness and to fit better in your hand. It has a large display screen for easy readings. 

This meter features an amperometric graphite electrode that provides greater repeatability in measurements, as it does not rust. An amperometric EC/TDS measurement is based on Ohm's Law, 1 = V/R, where R depends on the distance between two pins and their surface area. Oxidation changes both the distance and the surface area, which will directly affect the accuracy. Non-oxidizing graphite pins are able to provide optimum surface area for accurate and dependent results.

When calibration is required, simply dip the electrode tip into the calibration solution and adjust the potentiometer to one side of the meter. When the standard value is recognized and stability is reached, the meter will automatically accept and store the calibration value.

Setup options include auto-off timing and temperature unit. The auto-off options are to turn the meter off after 8 minutes, 60 minutes, or disabled. To enter the setup mode, the user presses a button located in the battery compartment.
